HOW TO STACK YOUR LUMBER:
Place the first layer of lumber onto 2”-4” stickers or spacers, (allowing space for the forks to pick up the stack) horizontally on the base. Stickers are typically small, evenly sized pieces of wood (e.g., 1" x 1" or 1" x 2") that are evenly spaced between each layer of lumber after the bottom row. These stickers create gaps or channels that facilitate airflow throughout the stack.
- Arrange the lumber: Starting from the center of the stack, space the stickers about 16”-24” apart. Carefully stack the lumber on top of the first layer of stickers, ensuring that each board is parallel to the one beneath it. Leave small gaps (about 1 inch or more) between each board horizontally and vertically. These gaps further promote air circulation and allow moisture to escape more efficiently.
- Maintain proper alignment: As you stack the lumber, make sure the ends of each board are aligned to prevent any twisting or warping. Regularly check the alignment during the stacking process to ensure the stack remains stable.
- Insert additional stickers: As you add each layer of lumber, place more stickers between them, aligning them with the stickers below. Maintain consistent spacing between the boards and stickers throughout the entire stack.
- Stack to an appropriate width and height: The width of the lumber stack should not exceed 4’. The height of the lumber stack should also not exceed 4’. The maximum length for the IDRY is 12’.
